Hey Righties! Here is Your Obligatory Newt Reminder

Ugh. Do we really have to do this? Unfortunately, it looks like we do, at least every five years or so. Ok…let’s try to get this over with as quickly and as painlessly as possible.

Right winger’s and all you so-called “independent” voters out there, before you completely lose your collective minds, it is time once again to meet Newt Gingrich. I dont really want to have to do this, but honestly you people leave me no choice. It is quite funny actually how short your memories are and how easily you are led astray down blind alleys by your nostrils towards any candidate the news media tells you to follow from week to week. But then again, it is just like Right wingers and “independents” to have no real opinions of their own.

That said, it is partly my responsibility, along with everyone else’s, to remind you who this week’s Republican hero is. Before Herman “Love Machine” Cain, “Crazy” Michelle Bachman, “Ooops” Perry and “Mr. 1%” Romney were all the rage there was Newt. He has been around for a while. Google him when you get a chance.

To save you the trouble, I will share with you some highlights from his illustrious career. I have to warn you though. It is nothing to write home about.

Black Friday Body…er…Profit Count

– Police in San Leandro, about 15 miles east of San Francisco, said the victim and his family were walking to their car around 1:45 a.m. Friday when they were confronted by a group of men who demanded their shopping items. When the family refused, a fight broke out, and one of the robbers pulled a gun and shot the man, said Sgt. Mike Sobek.

– The store had brought out a crate of discounted Xbox video game players, and a crowd had formed to wait for the unwrapping, when the woman began [pepper] spraying people “in order to get an advantage,” police Sgt. Jose Valle said.

– Meanwhile, police in suburban Phoenix came under fire when a video was posted online showing a 54-year-old grandfather on the floor of a Walmart store with a bloody face, after police said he was subdued Thursday night trying to shoplift during a chaotic rush for discounted video games. In a police report that redacted the names of officers and witnesses, Newman’s wife and other witnesses said he was just trying to help his grandson after the boy was trampled by shoppers, and only put a video game in his waistband to free his hands to help the boy.

– In Sacramento, Calif., a man was stabbed outside a mall Friday in an apparent gang-related incident as shoppers were hitting the stores. The stabbing stemmed from a fight between two groups around 3 a.m. in front of a Macy’s department store at the Arden Fair Mall.

The New Face of America’s Enemies

I want to start off with a quote: “Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

Here is another one: “What should be done with the domestic terrorists who are occupying our cities & college campuses?”

Do you see any similarities between these two quotes? I do and it is quite disturbing. The first quote is from Hermann Göring, Hitler’s Reichsmarschall and Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe, said during the Nuremberg Trials 1946-1946. The second quote is from FOX “news” bloviator Todd Starnes, typed on Twitter yesterday.

Ever since FOX “news” became a driving force in our media driven, political conversation, the Right has been taking from the handbook of fascism and totalitarianism almost on a daily basis. From the Right’s kidnapping of our flag and placing it squarely on their lapels after 9/11, to calling anyone opposed to George W. Bush’s war mongering traitors, and now with what we are seeing with regards to the Occupy movement, we are in the midst of a new era. It is an era of mental brutality, that likes of which would make people like Hermann Göring proud, or at the very least have him saying: “See? I told you so.”

And folks, it is only going to get worse…

What I Love Most About The OWS Movement

Since this OWS movement sprouted we have heard over and over again how the movement is akin to the Tea Party movement, or that it is nothing like it, meaning that the tea muffins were more organic or “grass roots” than OWS. Either way, to make comparisons of the two is asinine and totally ridiculous for one very important reason that I don’t recall reading or hearing about.

For all the talk by the Right about how the Left has no idea what they are protesting about, are just a bunch a spoiled hippies, have no message, etc. what the media is failing to report is that OWS and this gigantic movement is taking place during a Democratic administration. Compare that to the Tea Ballers and the comparisons cease immediately.

The Tea Party, as we all know, was the mastermind of the right wing media conglomerate FOX “News” and was funded by the right wing money machine every step of the way. No Tea Party event ever took place without first being promoted on FOX and the things these imbeciles claimed to be concerned about existed well before Obama became President. Anyone who can prove me wrong in this regard, please have at it. Furthermore, during Bush’s eight long years these same imbeciles were silent, non-existent, and seemingly uncaring about any one of the pointless issues they now claim to be so passionate about. Please.

OWS can claim no such thing. This is a movement that was started as a result of those eight long years, but also stemmed from an organic movement about what is wrong with this country now, a country sorely lacking in terms of equality and fairness. These protesters do not care about who the President is with regards to party affiliation. OWS does not play favorites in that regard and does not get their marching orders from any television channel.

Way back in April it was plain to see that the Tea Party was petering out. It was a movement created by rich people to rally their middle to lower class no-nothing base when they needed them the most. Tea Baggers were simply talking point messengers with nothing of their own to say that wasn’t already spoon fed to them via the teevee machine.

OWS is no such thing. What we are seeing is truly an organic movement by people fed up with a system that is out of control, a system that favors nothing but its own hunger for power and wealth.

So the next time someone tries to compare these two movements remind them that the so-called liberal OWS movement came about during a so-called liberal administration. If and when a Republican once again takes the White House, let us see if the Tea Party even exists as anything more than a name and a few soon to be recalled political hacks. To suggest that Tea Partiers will still be fighting for anything when a Republican is back in charge is laughable.

When that time comes, they will have gleefully receded back into the right wing fold and retaken their rightful place as the subservient followers that they are. And OWS, whatever it has become by then will be able to proudly say they followed no leader, promoted no party, and existed out of sheer passion by people who truly cared about something outside of what their masters were feeding them. Truly something to be proud of and something no Tea Baller will ever comprehend.

Ann Coulter is a Dumbass

Way back in February Ann Coulter said this about Mitt Romney: ”If you don’t run Chris Christie, Romney will be the nominee and we’ll lose.” At the time I thought, wow for once this horribly repulsive bit** is making some sense. Not that Christie should be a nominee for anything except a hot dog eating contest, but if it’s Romney then Obama wins.

With that in mind, here is what Coulter said this past week: ”Instead of sitting on our thumbs, wishing Ronald Reagan were around, or chasing the latest mechanical rabbit flashed by the media, conservatives ought to start rallying around Romney as the only Republican who has a shot at beating Obama.”

What? Did I read that correctly? Yes. I did. Coulter is now all in behind Romney. Nothing has changed since February mind you. Romney is still Romney and he will still lose to Obama. But Coulter, it seems, has given up on everyone else in the field and is throwing in the towel. But this is not what makes her so dumb, and she is dumb believe you me. What makes Coulter so dumb is what she said later to Sean Hannity:

Occupy Mayors Become MacArthur

I am a history buff. I especially like history that is less popular in our collective memory, stories that unless we hear about them in some off-handed way, we could probably live our entire lives never knowing they actually happened at all. Well this past week I learned of such a story.

During my usual mindless radio station flipping while driving, I stopped at NPR. This night they had a story about The Bonus Army of 1932. You can read all about it here, here and here. If you are unfamiliar with it as I was, this was an “army” encampment of WWI veterans who marched on Washington to demand an advance payment of a war bonus promised to them by a “grateful” Congress during the war, should they return home alive.

The deal would have paid each solider “a dollar for each day of domestic service, up to a maximum of $500, and $1.25 for each day of overseas service, up to a maximum of $625.” By 1932 with the depression in full swing, these veterans, with nothing left but insufferable economic hardship, marched on Washington to demand full payment of these funds to help ease their burden.

Long story short: “President Hoover and Republican congressmen opposed such action; they reasoned that the government would have to increase taxes to cover the costs of the payout, and thus any potential recovery would be slowed.” As a result of Congress’s inaction, the veterans set up camp across from the Capital and were determined to stay until Congress made good on their promise to them.

As per Wikipedia:

“The camps, built from materials scavenged from a nearby rubbish dump, were tightly controlled by the veterans who laid out streets, built sanitation facilities, and held daily parades. To live in the camps, veterans were required to register and prove they had been honorably discharged.”

Any of this sound familiar? Yeah, I thought so too. What happened next was all too familiar as well.

Can We Stop The BS Please? This is Getting Ridiculous.

I’m just curious…At what point do we stop playing these childish games with Republicans and just start calling them out for what they are? Take a look at this video from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. This is a man who is the frontrunner for the Presidency of the United States! Put him up against Obama and people will vote for him by the millions, I am sure. What kind of place have we turned the United States into where this man could be taken seriously in any way shape or form by civilized people as someone worthy of leading our country?

It is truly astounding to me that we still have a Republican party. These are nothing but a bunch of ignorant, uneducated fools who would consider a man like this for President. Now I know Cain will never get the nomination, but nevertheless, our history will now show that for a time a lot of people were seriously considering this person. It is mind boggling. Truly.

How do these guys interviewing Cain not just start laughing?

Herman Cain’s Candidacy Proves Republicans Are No Longer Racists!

A few weeks ago I wrote a post where I detailed some of the first inklings of Herman Cain’s grand takedown by Republicans in the run up to the nomination. Up to that point nobody in the press had been talking about it. Everyone was simply awash in CainMania as if he were some kind of force to be reckoned with. But if you were paying attention to what Republicans were doing, which you always should, it was easy to see the cracks forming. And in these past weeks those cracks have turned into total structural failure for Cain and he is being swept away in the oncoming deluge.

The flood came in the form of a Republican operative or some DINO (Democrat in name only) who dropped dime on Mr. Cain in an attempt to make sure Romney becomes the nominee. Of course this is only my assessment, but c’mon? How bright do you have to be to figure this one out? I mean when Gloria Allred appears on your TV with a white, blonde woman accusing a presidential contender of sexual misconduct, you know it is time to get your life preserver on.

With these allegations, Republicans seem to have finally noticed their predicament and decided enough is enough. All this time Republican’s were supposed to use Cain to distract from Romney while Perry got his act together. That was supposed to be the plan anyway. But all of that failed on a hilariously grand scale and now it is time to cut Cain loose and get on with the real competition of Romney/Christie v. Obama/Biden. For the record, yes, I predict Chris Christie will be the VP candidate. 

Herman Cain was never a real candidate at any time. Let’s make that clear. Cain was being used for his blackness. Yes, I said it. Republicans did the same thing when they made Michael Steele the head of the RNC. They also did it with Sarah Palin when Hillary Clinton was leading in the polls. You see Republicans are nothing if not opportunists, and Cain was an opportunity they could not pass up.

Never Smarten Up a Chump

Back in 2008, during the presidential campaign, I was sitting in a conference room with a few people during a lunch break. The woman I was sitting next to, a Republican I would soon discover, started talking about the candidates and quickly got around to Obama. What she said next has stayed with me ever since. I remember it clearly too because up to the moment I had never heard such a thing before. She said she was concerned that Obama, if elected president, would remove “In God We Trust” from the dollar bill.

After nearly chocking on my sandwich and looking at her with raised eyebrows, I asked her to please repeat it. She did. I then asked her if she could expand on that comment. She didn’t.

Fast forward to yesterday when The House took time out of their busy busy schedule of creating jobs to pass “a non-binding resolution reaffirming “In God We Trust” as the national motto.” I read this and almost hit the floor. I was suddenly brought back to 2008 and that woman in the conference room. Three years later and I almost choked on my sandwich again! Yes, this is what The House of Representatives, those folks who promised us jobs, jobs, jobs, felt necessary to pass in order to affirm what we already have known…since 1956! Nevertheless, I know that there is a crazy woman breathing a sigh of relief.

Now you might be wondering, why the hell would politicians take time out of their busy day to do such a thing?
