What we really need is a “Rally to Restore Reality”

Recently, I wrote about the insanity of the MSM hilariously and hypocritically judging itself after Keith Olberman was suspended for his political indiscretion. In so doing, the media succeeded in nothing more than looking pompous, self-righteous and very naive. So-called media professionals like Ted Koppel, Howard Kurtz and even Jon Stewart publicly voiced their disdain for how the political left and right are very hard to tell apart. That the rhetoric and hyperbole on both sides has gotten so “amplified,” as Stewart put it, that we can no longer hear anything within reason.
What they of course failed to also mention is that spending just a single day watching or listening to any FOX “News” program vs. shows like Rachel Maddow, Young Turks or Democracy Now, for example, and anyone with half a brain should be able to see that this argument is foolish, full of flaws, and completely wrong!
I finally got around to listening to Jon Stewart’s speech at his “Rally to Restore Sanity.” I also watched a video of people interviewed in the crowd that day. What I became aware of after doing that was that we need yet another rally in D.C., one that is more important and more vital than any that has come before. If we are truly to move forward as a country then what we need is a rally that I call: “The Rally to Restore Reality: A Rally to Counter the Idealistic Naivete and Seeming Ignorance of both the Left and the Right.”

Left and Right are not reflections…They are opposites!
By tmcbpatriot | November 16, 2010 | No Comments
This past week we were given a television treat. Rachel Maddow, in her best David Susskind, and perhaps even channeling Charlie Rose, dimmed the lights, brought out two very adult looking chairs and set the mood for an amazing hour of television. She was going to do a rare interview with…the Pope? The resurrected corpse of Andrew Jackson to ask his thoughts on extending the Bush tax cuts? Nope. Those are easy by comparison. No. We would be hearing from none other than the most important and hard to interview political mind on TV today…Ladies and gentlemen…Jon Stewart – the host of the Daily Show on Comedy Central.
Stewart and Maddow went on for an hour talking about what every main stream news outlet has been crying about for the past month or so: The Left and the Right are the same and each equally guilty of being over the top and essentially lying to their viewers every day. Stewart even went so far as to say this about FOX “News”…FOX “NEWS”!!!
“Fox is not partisan…They’re really not…. They’re ideological, but I don’t know that they’re partisan.”
Wholly head pounding pompous ass Batman! Has everyone gone insane? Jon Stewart thinks that FOX and MSNBC are the same and that FOX is non-partisan? If my head was able to spin in a full circle this would be the time.

Howard Kurtz thinks Olberman and Hannity are the same
By tmcbpatriot | November 11, 2010 | 10 Comments
Ladies and Gentleman! Howard Kurtz is concerned. Concerned I tell you! So concerned that he went on Countdown yesterday to school Keith Olberman about how bad of a mistake he made by donating $2500 to two Democratic candidates. Kurtz, it seems, is now the judge of the media.
Kurtz said this to Olberman:
“One of the reasons that I think you kind of left yourself vulnerable, Keith, to charges of hypocrisy, is because you have been banging on fox news over the news corp donation and people like Sean Hannity, who has raised money for GOP politicians, and you’ve kind of described him as a shill for the republican party.”
Did you catch that? Kurtz compared what Olberman did to what Hannity and the FOX “News” fundraising machine does every minute of every day. That is laughable. Olberman donated a small amount of money by his own admission after said politicians came on his show, not before. Big difference Howie. And an even bigger difference is that said politicians did not share their fundraising web addresses or beg for money while on his show. Now, let’s compare that to every single show on FOX where every single night during this election season they helped fundraise for every single Republican and Tea Party candidate. To say that Olberman is a hypocrite, which is basically what Kurtz is saying here. is an insult and I am sorry Keith did not call him on it.

Cruise ship loses power and we all suffer
By tmcbpatriot | November 11, 2010 | No Comments
For some reason this story about the disabled Carnival cruise ship is making me sick and I have to vent. I have not read this story in full because I can’t get myself to. But I have gotton my fill of it from CNN’s home page and that is all I have needed. I read headlines today that made me laugh out loud as CNN tries their hardest to turn this into some kind of drama at sea. We were today entertained by headlines such as:
- “Cruise called ‘absolutely deplorable’” – Oh really CNN? Wow, what a scoop!
- “One passenger said they endured overflowing toilets, spoiled food and rotten milk.” – Welcome to my office.
- “Passengers without air conditioning, hot showers or decent meals.” – Did they all join the army?
- “Passenger: ‘Great to see land’” – No comment.
Really? This is a news story? “Decent Meal?” What the hell does that even mean? It is despicable that the media is trying their damnedest to make this into a story. I am looking at a photo on the CNN home page and some guy actually made a sign that he hung over his luxury cabin balcony that read: “NEED ICE.” Are you kidding me? You need ice? For what? Your drink? Did he hurt his foot tripping over his flat screen TV when the lights went out?
The “news” story said passengers received SPAM and pop tarts while waiting to be tug boated back to port. I am surprised they did not mutiny when they found out they would have to eat their free poptarts un-toasted! The Horror!
Is this the American version of the chilean miners? Are they heroes for having nothing to do for three whole days but play ping pong, swim in the pool or scale the climbing wall? Granted, a cruise ship cabin is small, but I bet none of them had to share it with 33 other passengers! Will these people be featured on GMA or Letterman in the coming week? Will they write books about their horrible stay aboard a powerless luxury liner for their three-day “ORDEAL”? Really? An Ordeal? Three days? Man…can you imagine if Americans of today had to do what early settlers did during the journey westward? Or in their fight to break away from England? Good god man. This story is an embarrassment. I can’t hardly wait for the “where are they now” edition of CNN’s “Stranded at Sea” expose in two weeks.
Whew. Ok. I feel a little better now.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid republicans are. It’s like they act before thinking…wait…forget LIKE…It is a FACT that they act before thinking. And here is proof:
“At the request of constituents, the Henrico County Republican has filed legislation to establish a “Don’t Tread On Me” license plate featuring the rattlesnake emblem and yellow background of the historic Gadsden Flag, which has become a symbol for the Tea Party and like-minded conservative activists.”
So let me make sure I have this straight. The Tea Baggers want the government to introduce a license plate that says down with the government? In my best british accent I say to you: “Ang awn a meenit!”
Attention All Tea Bagger Retards: By displaying a license plate on your car you are not only doing what the government wants you to do but you are asking their permission to do it!
The irony of your stupidity is the stuff of legend. I give you that. You want to truly be for no government? Stop asking for things and just do them. By asking permission to be subversive you just look downright imbecilic.

Republicans take the House…a lesson in hilarity!
By tmcbpatriot | November 11, 2010 | No Comments
Republicans and “independents” unite in your accomplishments this election season. You did it! You bought into the FOX “news” corporate media circus in their dictating how you should vote via lies and made up stories and you bought it hook line and sinker! Pat yourselves on the back. We are now on our way back to the original constitution, the way the founders wanted it. To this I say…YOU ARE ALL MORANS!
I am overwhelmed after this election. The thought of Rand Paul being in power for six years is chilling, along with some other “winners” who now can wield the crazy with nobody to stop them until the next election cycle. Truly frightening.
At the same time I am actually happy that this happened. I am laughing. Not with you but AT you. You see, my job is not really threatened by this election. I have a skill and years of experience in my line of work. Now, I may sound like I am bragging, but to make it clear what I am telling you is that I am not the one that the republicans are going to screw big time in the next few years. The ones who are going to get screwed is everyone who does not have a skill or experience or are minorities, like new graduates, unskilled workers, immigrants, blacks, latinos and those who are not now already making six figures or more. You have once again voted to get fired from your low paying job and for your children to be sent off to war. Nice going!

I have been out this past week tending to my father who passed away this past Tuesday. I will be writing more in the coming week, but for now here is a great tune to reflect on life or to whatever else you see fit to associate it with.
SEND TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!
By tmcbpatriot | October 28, 2010 | No Comments
Folks, judgement day is looming. Many have already voted, but most have not. I will keep this brief. Watch these videos and then think hard about who you send this to. It needs to go to anyone you know who is unbelievably still not sure who they will vote for and for the others who think that who they ARE voting for are truly going to turn this country around. Sit them down and have them watch. Sure it might gloss right over their already glazed stare but try…for the love of god at least try. Thank you!

Ginni Thomas goes viral
By tmcbpatriot | October 24, 2010 | No Comments
This past week I have been thinking about Virginia Thomas, wife of SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas. I have been trying to put into realistic perspective why she did what she did.
When you google Virginia Thomas you get over 8,000,000 results. Now, I am sure they are not all about her, but when you click through any number of pages (I clicked though the first eighteen google pages) you find that every link is related to her and her now infamous phone message to Anita Hill. However, every article seems to just report the voice message itself and how it was bizarre to do such a thing. It also on occasion mentions her affiliation with a certain tea party group, but more on that later.
What I found interesting was that in all those pages of stories, nothing was mentioned about her possible motive for doing such an odd thing. For some reason this story became about some potentially crazy woman who perhaps drunk dialed her nemesis rather than what I believe it actually was: a clear calculated political move.
Now, for those not aware of what I am talking about, some brief background: Virginia Thomas is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Way back in 1991 he was nominated to the Supreme Court by George Dubya the 1st. At the time he worked with a young black woman named Anita Hill who testified that while she worked with Mr. Thomas he made some sexually provocative statements towards her. She was asked to tell her story as a clever gotcha ploy by Democrats to kick Thomas down a few notches and make his nomination to the court a bit more difficult.
